The short version
AI Token Usage Monitor collects nothing. There is no account, no telemetry, no crash reporting and no advertising. The developer never receives your data, because there is no server belonging to the developer for it to be sent to.
Who is responsible
The app and this website are published by Adrian Surma, an individual developer based in the United Kingdom, who is the data controller for the little that this site processes. A postal address is available on request, and is shown on the App Store product page in the European Union, where Apple publishes it as part of the trader details. Contact: adriansurma@gmail.com.
What the app reads
AI Token Usage Monitor displays usage figures that Claude Code, a separate product by Anthropic PBC, already writes on your Mac. To do that it reads, locally:

files under
~/.claude/in your home folder — the usage and session data Claude Code writes there, including the percentage of context used per session, the model in use, and the 5-hour and 7-day limit figures; -
the
Claude Code-credentialsitem in your login keychain, which holds the OAuth token Claude Code stores. macOS asks for your explicit permission before the app can read it, and you can refuse.
The app never writes to the keychain, never refreshes or renews that token, and never stores a copy of it outside memory.
The one network request
When usage data from an open session is not fresh enough, the app queries
the usage endpoint of the service the data belongs to
(api.anthropic.com/api/oauth/usage), authenticated with the
OAuth token described above. That request goes to Anthropic, not to the
developer, and it returns only your own limit figures.
That is the only network request the app makes. You can disable it entirely in Settings, in which case the app works from session data alone. The Mac App Store build behaves the same way: it is sandboxed, but the sandbox does not stop it from reading that keychain item or making that request, so both are available there too — and macOS still asks for your permission before the token can be read.
What is never collected
- No analytics, telemetry or usage statistics about you.
- No crash reports.
- No advertising identifiers, and no advertising.
- No contents of your prompts, code, files or conversations.
- No personal information of any kind is transmitted to the developer.
Data stored on your Mac
The app keeps its own settings in the standard macOS preferences store,
and the statusline bridge writes session snapshots under
~/.claude/pasek/sessions/. Both stay on your Mac. Deleting
the app and that folder removes everything it ever wrote.
Children
AI Token Usage Monitor is a developer tool. It is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children.
Buying the app
The app is a paid, one-time purchase. There is no subscription, no in-app purchase and no trial. Apple is the seller: your payment, your billing details and your invoice are handled entirely by Apple under the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, and refunds are requested from Apple through Report a Problem. The developer never sees your name, address or payment details — App Store Connect reports only anonymous, aggregated sales figures.
Use of the app itself is governed by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement; there is no separate agreement with the developer.
This website
This site counts visits with Google Analytics, and only if you consent —
consent is the legal basis, and you can withdraw it at any time with
“Analytics settings” in the footer. Accept, and Google sets its analytics
cookies in your browser and receives the usual measurement data,
including your IP address, which may be processed outside the UK and the
EEA, in the United States. Decline, and no analytics cookies are set: what
Google still receives is a cookieless, aggregated ping that carries no
identifier tying one visit to another. The site sets no other cookies,
runs no advertising, and your choice is remembered in
localStorage rather than in a cookie.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask for access to your personal data, its correction or erasure, a restriction on how it is used, a copy of it in portable form, and you can object to its processing or withdraw consent. In practice there is very little to ask for: the app holds nothing about you off your own Mac, and the analytics data described above is not linked to a name or an account. Write to adriansurma@gmail.com and you will get an answer within one month. If you think the matter has been handled badly, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk), or to the data protection authority of the EU country you live in.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
